COACHES

Bob Vilven

Bob has coached a variety of youth sports over 35 years, the last 17 years as the Hurdle coach for Cathedral Catholic High School.  Bob was a multi sport athlete in high school and college, and competed in Europe as well in both Basketball and Track.  He was recently inducted into his High School Hall of Fame for Athletics.  Bob will oversee all events, with emphasis on Hurdles.

Dan Geiger

Coach Geiger has over 20 years of high school coaching experience at both University of San Diego High School and Cathedral Catholic High School. He has been the Head Track & Field Coach for 20 years and the Head Cross Country Coach for 20 years. During his tenure the teams have won over 20 league titles and 10 CIF titles, and recently added a State title to his credentials. He has been named San Diego Coach of the Year on 4 separate occasions. Coach Geiger has worked with a variety of event groups over the years but specializes in distance, jumps and relays.

Holly Stroschine

Holly has coached high school and youth pole vaulters for many years.  She competed at the University of Oregon for 4 years, after winning the Oregon State Championship in High School, setting a high school State record.  She was named an All-American by Track and Field News.  She competed in 4 Pac-10 championships, and several National competitions, including the 2000 Olympic Trials.  She has coached with Eagles Wings Track Club and Cathedral Catholic High School for the last three years, with her athletes soaring to great heights, with several athletes vaulting over 14 feet.

Dick Robinson

Coach Robinson has been the distance coach for Eagles Wings Track Club for three years.  He has had a passion for running all his life, being an All State HS Cross Country runner in Massachusetts, and then at the University of New Hampshire.  He was highly ranked in his age division here in the Dirt Dog series.  It is with this enthusiasm they he can be seen running with the Eagles Wings athletes and Cathedral athletes during the summer and winter runs.  In his spare time he enjoys his job as an engineer and spending time with Karen, his wife of 30 years!

Shawn Poma

Shawn has been coaching with Eagles Wings Track Club over the last four years and at Cathedral Catholic over the last five years, coaching the throws  including discus, shot put and javelin.  His years of coaching youth sports like baseball, football and track, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our athletes.  His athletes have had success at both the local and national levels.  Shawn also serves as a USATF official working many NCAA and youth track meets across the county.
